Women’s Soccer Announces 2017 Schedule

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate head coach Tyson John announced the 2016 women’s soccer schedule on Friday highlighted by eight home matches.

The 2017 Spartans will take the field for the first time in an exhibition game at Charleston Southern on August 12 before opening the season at Furman on August 18. The Spartans host Radford two days later (Aug. 20) in their home opener at 7 p.m. to begin the first of five consecutive home matches.

Upstate will face Alabama A&M (Aug. 27), Hampton (Sept. 1), and South Carolina State (Sept. 4) before closing out the five-match homestand against crosstown rival Wofford (Sept. 8). The Spartans open an eight-match roadtrip against Winthrop (Sept. 10) that will see them face four consecutive Big South Conference opponents before opening ASUN Conference play at Kennesaw State on Sept. 22.

The Spartans will play three of their final four matches of the season at County University Stadium beginning with a visit from Stetson on Oct. 6. Other ASUN home matches are against reigning league champion Florida Gulf Coast (Oct. 8) and Lipscomb (Oct. 14). In addition to traveling to Kennesaw State, the Spartans will play road ASUN matches against North Florida (Sept. 29), Jacksonville (Oct. 1) and NJIT (Oct. 21).
