USC Upstate Closes out Road Campaign at North Florida, Jacksonville

The USC Upstate men’s basketball team plays its final road games of the regular season this week as the Spartans travel to the state of Florida for a pair of games against the North Florida Ospreys and Jacksonville Dolphins.

USC Upstate opens the week on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. against North Florida before traveling to Jacksonville on Saturday evening for a 6 p.m. tip-off.

The Spartans hosted Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast last week going 1-1 with a 91-79 victory over Stetson on Feb. 8. Deion Holmes scored 34 points, his second game this season with 30 or more points, to lead USC Upstate and tied his career-high of 13 field goals made. Malik Moore added a season-high 27 points falling one shy of equaling his career-best. Last Saturday against FGCU, Mike Cunningham tied his season-high of 26 points after setting a new career mark behind the 3-point line of 7-for-13.

North Florida currently sits at 11-17 on the season and 5-6 in conference play. Ivan Gandoia-Rosa leads the Ospreys offensively this season averaging 13.8 points per game while Noah Horchler is averaging a double-double of 11.4 points and a team-leading 8.7 rebounds per game. UNF is under the direction of ninth-year head coach Matthew Driscoll.

Jacksonville enters the weekend with a 12-16 overall record and is 6-5 in the ASUN. Jace Hogan is averaging a team-high 16.0 points per game and Devin Harris leads the Dolphins defensively with 7.0 rebounds per game. Jacksonville is led by fourth-year head coach Tony Jasick.

The Spartans lead the all-time series over the Ospreys 17-14 but trail the Dolphins 12-9.
