USC Upstate Ranked No. 24/25 in National Top 25 Polls

Winners of 18 straight games to open the season, the USC Upstate softball team is ranked in the top 25 nationally according to both the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches and Softball Collegiate Top 25 polls.

USC Upstate received 62 votes in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll for a 24th-place ranking and 38 in the Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll to rank 25th.

The Spartans were ranked 25th last season by Softball entering NCAA Regional play in Knoxville, Tenn.

USC Upstate has started the season 18-0 capped last weekend with five wins over Mount St. Mary’s, Delaware State and Indiana hosting the Wings Etc. Classic. The Spartans have the top-ranked offense in the ASUN this season sitting first in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, runs scored, hits, doubles, home runs, RBI and stolen bases.

Nationally, USC Upstate ranks in the top 25 in batting average, doubles per game, ERA, fielding percentage, on-base percentage, scoring, slugging percentage and stolen bases per game.

The USA Today/NFCA Division I Top Coaches 25 Poll is voted on by 32 NCAA Division I head coaches, one representing each conference.

The Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll is voted on by coaching representatives of 10 Division I Conferences in the 10 USA Softball Regions as well as members of the national and local media who consistently cover Division I softball across the country.

The Spartans travel to Tucson, Ariz. this weekend, March 9-11, to face Wisconsin, South Dakota, San Diego and Arizona at the Wildcat Invitational.
