The University of South Carolina Upstate (USC Upstate) is thrilled to welcome Alexandria “Jade” Jenkins to our campus this fall. Jenkins, an accomplished graduate of Clover High School, has been awarded several prestigious scholarships that include the Life Scholarship, the Kirsh Family Foundation Scholarship, the McMackin Family Scholarship, and the Clover Women’s Club Mary Baird Honorary Scholarship.

We were incredibly impressed by Jenkins’ academic record, commitment to excellence, and desire to make a difference in the world. Her selection of USC Upstate speaks volumes, and we are honored that she chose our university to continue her education.

To receive the $100,000 Kirsh Family Foundation Scholarship, Jenkins had to have a 3.0 or higher GPA, submit several written essays, and demonstrate a need for financial assistance.

Jenkins plans to study nursing, and her passion for helping others is evident in her desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those around her. Her mother’s passing has inspired her to pursue a career in nursing, and we have no doubt that she will excel in this field.

“This is a big change for me coming from a small school in a small town,” Jenkins said. “Everyone I’ve met at USC Upstate has been great—very supportive.”

The USC Upstate community is eager to welcome Jenkins to our campus this fall. She will undoubtedly be an asset to our academic and social communities, and we look forward to supporting her as she pursues her dreams.

“This is the greatest news ever,” said Donette Stewart, vice chancellor for enrollment services and director of enrollment at USC Upstate. “Jade could’ve chosen to go almost anywhere, and she chose us.”

The Kirsh Family Foundation Scholarship was established by the family of the late S.C. Rep. Herb Kirsh of Clover, South Carolina. The very first recipient in 2014 also attended USC Upstate.
