Dave Dickerson Announces First Men’s Basketball Signing Class

Dave Dickerson has announced his first signing class as head coach of the USC Upstate men’s basketball program this afternoon. The class includes five student-athletes who will join the Spartans for the upcoming 2018-19 campaign.

The signing class includes:

  • Everette Hammond, a guard from Silver Spring, Md., St. Thomas More School;
  • Brandon Martin, a forward from Elgin, S.C., Cardinal Newman School;
  • Bryson Mozone, a guard/forward from North Augusta, S.C., North Augusta, S.C.;
  • Dalvin White, a guard from Norcross, Ga., Norcross High School;
  • Nevin Zink, a forward/center from Newtown, Conn., St. Andrews School

“I am excited to announce my first signing class at USC Upstate,” said Dickerson. “These five players will join our returning players from last season to help give us a complete team for 2018-19. They are all outstanding individuals and I cannot wait to see them grow and mature in this program over the next four years.”

Everette Hammond

Guard, 6-4, 185

Silver Spring, Md. / St. Thomas More School

Lettered in both basketball and football, and concluded his career on the court scoring over 1,000 points…All-Conference performer at St. Thomas…Playing on the club circuit, Hammond was invited to the AAU All-American Camp…Parents are Everette and Monica Hammond.

Brandon Martin

Forward, 6-6, 210

Elgin, S.C. / Cardinal Newman School

Lettered in basketball at Cardinal Newman and averaged nearly 14 points and 10 rebounds per game while becoming a member of the 500 Rebound Club…Three-time All-Region performer and earned All-State honors twice…Selected the Most Improved Player…Excelled academically, making both the Principal and Deans List while serving as a member of the National Honor Society and earning the Leadership Program and Service Hours Awards…Parents are Frank Martin and Kim Hicks…Father, Frank, is currently the head men’s basketball coach at South Carolina.

Bryson Mozone

Guard/Forward, 6-6, 185

North Augusta, S.C. / North Augusta High School

Lettered in basketball for the Yellow Jackets and concluded his prep career averaging 16 points, nine rebounds and four blocks per game…A North-South Game participant, earned numerous accolades on the court…Named Region Player of the Year and First Team All-State while earning All-Aiken Standard and All-North Augusta Star honors…Graduated Cum Laude from North Augusta and participated in Palmetto Boys State while being named to the Beta Club…Parents are Joseph and Margaret Mozone.

Dalvin White

Guard, 5-11, 150

Norcross, Ga. / Norcross High School

Lettered in basketball and finished his career second in school history in assists…All-Time wins leader at Norcross and averaged nearly 11 points per game…Helped Norcross to a 28-4 record during his senior season and a runner-up performance in the Georgia AAAAAAA state championship game…Averaged 10.1 points, 5.4 assists (second in Gwinnett County), 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game as Norcross captured a Region 7-AAAAAAA championship…Named Honorable Mention All-Region as a junior…Parents are Walter and Yvonne White.

Nevin Zink

Forward/Center, 6-9, 220

Newton, Conn. / St. Andrew’s School

Lettered in basketball and averaged a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, along with two blocks, during his prep career…This past season received the Coaches Award for boys basketball at St. Andrew’s and was named Honorable Mention at the Govenor’s Challenge…Also named Honorable Mention NEPSAC All-New England…Has received academic honors including World Language Honors Society and 2015-16 All-Star Academic Team for Athletes…Parents are David and Christine Zink.
