USC Upstate is pleased to announce Dr. Jeannie Chapman, dean of the College of Science and Technology (CST), has been selected to participate in the Riley Institute at Furman University’s 28th class of Diversity Leaders Initiative (DLI).

Chapman will join leaders from across the Upstate in the five-month program. Participants will take part in a highly interactive curriculum of case studies, scenario analyses and other experiential learning tools aimed at maximizing interaction and discussion among classmates and facilitating productive relationships.

DLI graduates become Riley Fellows, a network that includes more than 2,100 business, civic and community leaders from across the state.

“Discovering ways in which differences can strengthen our organizations is of utmost importance as we seek to grow and support a thriving economy and rich culture,” said Dr. Donald Gordon, executive director of the Riley Institute, in a statement.

Chapman said she plans to harness what she learns from the program to benefit CST and USC Upstate, and to create opportunities for leaders from the university to become Riley Fellows.
