Jure Span Named to NABC Honors Court

USC Upstate rising-senior men’s basketball student-athlete Jure Span has been named to the 2017-18 National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court, the association announced this afternoon.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season.

Span, a native of Litja, Slovenia, is currently majoring in exercise and sport science and was a unanimous selection to the ASUN All-Academic Team last season. He played in every game last season for the Spartans and made a career-high 26 starts. Span averaged 7.9 points, 4.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game. He ranked third in the ASUN in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.4) and sixth in assists per game.

Span had 10 double-digit scoring performances highlighted by a career-high 22 points against UMKC. He began the year scoring 19 points at 15th-ranked Minnesota. Span dished out five or more assists 12 times including a season-best nine versus Abilene Christian.
