Following a standout senior season that saw her earn ASUN Player of the Year and Unanimous First Team All-Conference honors, USC Upstate first baseman Karla Beasley has been named Third Team All-Southeast Region today by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

The All-Region selection for Beasley gives the Spartans an NFCA honor for the second straight year after Holly McKinnon also earned Third Team All-Region recognition last season. Beasley became the second USC Upstate student-athlete in program history this season to be named ASUN Player of the Year, joining Shellie Robinson who earned the award in 2014 and 2015.

The Jacksonville, Fla. native turned in a career season for the Spartans in 2018 leading the team with a career-high 16 home runs while hitting .358 and driving in 35 RBI. She concluded her USC Upstate career with 45 home runs and 166 RBI, ranking third all-time in both categories. Beasley led the conference this season in home runs and walks while tying for first in slugging percentage. She also ranked second in on-base percentage, fifth in runs scored and tied for ninth in hits. Nationally, Beasley was in the top-50 in home runs, home runs per game, slugging percentage and walks.

She was named ASUN Player of the Week for the first time in her career on February 26.

Beasley is one of three players from the ASUN who received NFCA All-Region accolades as Kennesaw State’s Maddie Roth and Alley Cutting were named First and Third Team, respectively, in the South Region.
