Shoestring Players to Hold Auditions for “London Road”

January 9, 2018 at 2:02 pm

The Shoestring Players at the University of South Carolina Upstate will hold auditions for “London Road,” from 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 in the Humanities and Performing Arts Center.

Performances will be April 12-15.

Each person auditioning should familiarize themselves with each play and be prepared to read from the script.

“London Road” documents the events from 2006, when the quiet town of Ipswich in England was shattered by the discovery of the bodies of five prostitutes. The residents of London Road, victims of years of curb side soliciting, became suspicious and weary of their neighbors. A local resident was charged and convicted of the murders and the community grappled with what it means to protect a sense of community. Taken directly from police transcripts, London Road is a unique documentary musical ripped from the headlines. The play boasts two sold out seasons at The National Theatre of Great Britain.
