USC Upstate Enforces No-Smoking Policy

The University of South Carolina Upstate says it is stamping out leniency when it comes to its campuswide ban on smoking.

“Up until the last two or three months, we haven’t been asked (by university administration) to take an aggressive enforcement policy,” said Klay Peterson, the university’s chief of police, “but that has since changed, and we have definitely stepped up our vigilance in that regard.”

It has been more than a year since the university implemented its smoke-free policy, and the topic once again is a hot one after a law in North Carolina banning smoking in restaurants and bars went into effect earlier this month. Read the full story at GoUpstate.com…
